If you are not familiar with Reiki, let's explore a little...
What is Reiki? Rei...mean higher power, Ki...means life force energy.
What does it do? It can relax and relieve stress, allowing the body's innate wisdom to heal. While some report healing taking place in response to Reiki, it does not always occur and there can be many reasons why. At places like Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and other progressive hospitals integrative medicine is being incorporated in their treatment, exploring the mind-body connection. Reiki, along with other therapies are part of the program. An individual in active cancer treatment is usually advised by their physician to forego manual therapies in favor of an energetic technique such as Reiki.
What is a Reiki session like? A typical Reiki session is usually performed on a massage table with the client fully clothed. The practitioner's hands will be placed on or just above the client's body. Typically, the atmospher includes soft lifting and music to aid in relaxation.
How long will it last? Reiki sessions may last anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes but the average is 60 minutes.
What does it feel like? You may not feel anything but deep relaxation; however, many do report feeling emotions. A common response to Reiki is to feel heat from the practitioner's hands, and you may or may not be aware of the practitioner's hands touching you.
Reiki services are available for $45 per session.
